Open Source apps for London!

May 31st
last date

Continuing Programmr's tradition of pioneering online hackathons, we bring to you our largest and biggest contest so far!

Our sponsor Hired.com has grown like crazy in the past year and will be opening their first European office in London this April. Hired would like to reach out to rockstar European developers by hosting this hackathon where talented developers in Europe get a chance to showcase their skills.

The best part’s yet to come - Hired was so delighted with the results of our previous contest with them that they have decided to double the bounty for this one.

  • Create a cool app for London.
  • Use the free API provided by London Data Store, or other similar free sources to get access to various city topics like arts & culture, sport, transport and employment.
  • Make the app visually appealing, useful and fun.
  • The app can be a webapp, mobile app, or console app.

We always love it when developers come up with original ideas, but if you find yourself needing some inspiration, you can check out the winning entries of the  previous San Francisco contest, to tickle your brain for ideas.

30 Days left for the contest to end

Last date of contest : 15th May 2015 11:59 PST

Last date extended to: 31st May 2015 11:59 PST!

  • The app should be hosted as a runnable project on Programmr.
  • If you are unable to run your app on our platform, you can submit your entry by sending us a link to the live project (hosted on a server of your choice) and the source code, hosted on a public repository like Git. Please remember that we absolutely must have the source code to evaluate the project.
  • If you are not hosting your project on programmr.com, then we would like to request you to include a little note explaining the problems you faced on our platform and the reason for hosting elsewhere. This is purely to understand what we need to improve and to make programmr.com better for all of you.
  • Please remember that the code must be open source. However you are free to commercialize your project after the contest ends.
  • Programmr and its sponsors will not commercialise your app's source code.

Well, what are you waiting for? This contest is such a great invitation for you to get started on open source if you haven't already!

Looking forward to seeing your entry soon. On Your Marks, Get Set, Code!

Last date extended to: 31st May 2015 11:59 PST!
